An Interview With A Character

What is your full name?

Opal Tucker but I’m known as Grandma Opal in Jodi’s book.

What is your Profession?

I was a housewife and mom. Also, I’ve created many cast iron skillet recipes with my recently deceased best friend, Ellie Siler. We had a dream to open and co-own our own cast iron skillet restaurant, but Ellie never married and ended up opening up a chocolate shop called Chocolate Capers. I had my kids and stayed at home to raise them. I’m so proud of my granddaughter, Jolie Tucker, and her bestie Ava for taking our family recipes and opening Cast Iron Creations in Leavensport, OH. You better bet I’m always around to taste test and offer advice!

What is your current favourite book or movie?

I’ve always LOVED Caddy Shack! That pool scene with the candy bar is a hoot!

What is your go to comfort book or movie?

The Bridges of Madison County—my kids always wonder why—maybe someday they’ll find out.

If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?

Good question! Let’s see, Melissa McCarthy if you put a short tight curly gray-haired wig on her! She’s got spunk, that one!

What is your ideal evening?

Cast iron cookin, of course!
