But his fiance, Becca, has at the last minute decided to switch from a Japanese-cherry-blossom theme to a Gone with the Wind theme. She wants to honor her ailing grandmother, who owns an impressive collection of GWTW memorabilia–and who is fiercely at odds with the groom's mother over the nuptial plans.

But among other complications, Becca gets into a fight with an old childhood rival over a replica Scarlett O'Hara wedding gown. She wins the dress–but soon becomes a murder suspect when the other woman is found dead in Becca's swimming pool. And it's up to Mallory to solve the mystery behind this unhappy occasion, before a different kind of civil war breaks out . . .

An Interview With A Character

What is your full name?

Mallory Ann Shepard.

What is your Profession?

I’m a wedding planner and Bed and Breakfast purveyor as my official profession, and an unintentional amateur sleuth on the side. I try not to insert myself into the Chief of Police’s cases, but somehow, I always manage to get involved! I was an attorney before I inherited the mansion I turned into a B and B. It’s surprising how much I use the negotiation, persuasion, and mediation skills from my time as a lawyer in my new profession as a wedding planner.

What is your current favourite book or movie?

I love to curl up with a good traditional mystery, and I’m currently reading Agatha Christie’s Sparkling Cyanide. I’m trying to stay out of trouble and live a quiet life in Port Quincy, Pennsylvania, but somehow my life always ends up like a mystery novel!

What is your go to comfort book or movie?

I love watching movies with close-knit small towns. My current comfort movie is “Groundhog Day.” The town of Punxsutawney as represented in the film reminds me so much of my newly adopted hometown, Port Quincy. Everyone knows your name, you see your friends and acquaintances each time you venture downtown, and people are willing to help each other.

If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?

I would love to be portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She can be sweet and sassy at the same time.

What is your ideal evening?

My ideal evening would involve a rollicking, cozy dinner party with my boyfriend Garrett, his daughter Summer, my sister Rachel, and my friends. As a wedding planner, I love planning events. But some of the most special ones are the impromptu get-togethers you share with your friends and family, with minimal planning, and a whole lot of fun!
