A Field Guide to Homicide
A Field Guide to Homicide

Cat’s sweetheart, Seth, is going all out on an outing into the local mountains—for the benefit of the writing group Cat’s hosting at her Colorado B&B. But when they try to identify some plant and animal life, they find death instead. The body belongs to a man with a gold claim a few miles away. Instead of striking it rich, he’s been struck down.

To his surprise, Seth recognizes the victim from his military days—and up to now believed he’d already died during his last tour of duty. Now Cat has to solve this mystery before the killer takes a hike . . .

Lynn Cahoon seems incapable of writing a bad or even mediocre story, each one gets better and better and I cannot wait for the next in the series!

Secrets, lies and murder … Oh my! Secrets can be good or bad, or in this case deadly!

Cat. Shauna and Seth are going all out for this retreat, at least one of the members is interested in the gold mining history of the area and others in the flora and fauna and so Seth has arranged to take the five retreatees on a hike, when Cat is taking a photo of one of the couples (it turns out that this retreat has two couples as well as the Covington student) she notices something odd, the oddness turns out to be a dead body, but the dead body of someone that Seth thought had died 10 years ago! Now Seth needs help piecing the lies and truth together, figuring who he can trust and all of them need to find out who killed a supposedly dead man before someone else gets hurt or ends up in the morgue.

An Interview With A Character

What is your full name?

Catherine Lorraine Edmond Latimer

What is your Profession?

I’m a full time author of paranormal young adult books – Tori’s my main character – she’s just learning about her power. And, I run a monthly writers retreat in my historic Colorado home.  I used to be a non-tenured college professor at Covington College which is in my home town of Aspen Hills.

What is your current favourite book or movie?

I’m loving the new Little Women. It’s fun seeing a well-loved book I read when I was a child turned into a visual delight. I felt the same way about Wrinkle in Time.

What is your go to comfort book or movie?

I’m really loving the Star Wars series. I’m going to watch the series in full when the last one goes to DVD probably later this month. It’s a reminder of my childhood but the world keeps changing.

If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?

Hmmm, I’ve never thought about this. Maybe Karlie Kloss? I love her direct and confident style. Of course, she’s a lot taller than me.  I’d just want someone with a great sense of humor and an ability to read people.

What is your ideal evening?

My ideal evening would be a game night with Seth, my boyfriend (handyman for the retreat) and my BFF, Shauna.  She’s also my copartner in the retreat and does all the cooking for the breakfast part. She’s an amazing cook. I love playing board games, especially on cold Colorado nights with a fire in the fireplace.
