As summer comes to an end in her Jersey Shore town, Lucy Berberian continues to manage her family’s Mediterranean restaurant. The Kebab Kitchen also has a food tent at this year’s beach festival. But now a local businessman is under the boardwalk—dead by the sea . . .

With a sand castle contest and live music, Ocean Crest bids a bittersweet farewell to tourist season. Summer will return next year . . . but Archie Kincaid won’t. The full-of-himself store owner has been fatally shot, soon after a screaming match with Lucy’s best friend. Katie’s far from the only suspect, though, since Archie had some bitter rivals—as well as some relationships no one knew about. It’s up to Lucy to look into some seedy characters and solve the case before the wrong person gets skewered . .

OH MY WORD!! This is a brilliant edition to the Kebab Kitchen series, 6 stars out of 5 rating grin

Ocean Crest has a last chance to salt some money away from the tourists with a beach festival, this year Lucy is in charge of setting up for food and drink tasting afternoon into evening, but the day before she agrees to be a judge of the sand sculpture competition, this IS a competition with a rather nice $5k prize and so Lucy's friend Katie is determined there will be no problems, unfortunately she isn't lucky with that as another two judges get into a heated argument with the outcome being that one of them has broken the judging rules and has to be removed.  Katie ends up in another argument with the ousted judge later on over a business licence, none of which would be bad news, only the argumentative businessman ends up dead, with Katie looking like the murderer.  With Katie's husband Ben off the case and the Detective not really looking at anyone else (or so Lucy thinks) she starts to investigate, taking time out to go out on a date, a proper date with Azad, her ex (now apparently current again) boyfriend, oh and as well as this she needs to run the restaurant, so multi-tasking has become her daily routine, helped by some friends and, surprisingly, the local fortune teller!

Thank you for interviewing me!

What is your full name?

Lucy Anahid Berberian

What is your Profession?

I’m the manager of Kebab Kitchen, my family’s Mediterranean restaurant at the Jersey shore.

What is your current favourite book or movie?

I’m a Marvel’s Avengers movies fan. It started with Iron Man and then only got better with Thor, Captain America, and Spiderman. My young niece, Niari, loves this series too and we watch the movies together.  

What is your go to comfort book or movie?

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is my favorite comfort book. I read it in high school and have reread it numerous times since. I like the Regency era in early England, and I enjoy the feisty Elizabeth and the brooding Darcy.

If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?

If someone was to play me in a move, they would have to come from a diverse ethnic background. I’m Armenian, Lebanese, and Greek. So, I would have to pick Angela Sarafyan. She was in Westwood, The Promise, and the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

For the second question, if I could play a character in a book, I’d pick Nancy Drew. I loved this series as a kid and have read lots of them to my young niece. Nancy was ahead of her time as a nineteen-year-old and a great role model for young girls. Who doesn’t love her?

What is your ideal evening?

I’d be working at my Kebab Kitchen and tasting the shish kebab and hummus bar. After work, I’d jog the Ocean Crest boardwalk. I love running here at night. The boardwalk is an eclectic mix of shops and eateries, and there are plenty of tourists and locals walking the boards each day and night during the summer season. I always run back on the beach. I love the cool breeze from the ocean, the squawking seagulls, and the scent of salt water. After that, I’d go out with my handsome head chef, Azad. He was my high school beau and after a breakup back in college, we’ve resumed our romantic relationship. At first, I wasn’t sure about this, but Azad has a way of changing a gal’s mind. We’d go to one of the local bars, Mac’s Irish Pub, and enjoy a band, some beer on tap, and chat with friends. An ideal evening at the Jersey shore.
