Cry Wolf
Cry Wolf

Rural Pennsylvania’s Vance Township Police Chief Pete Adams is down an officer and has been dealing with extra shifts as well as a pair of bickering neighbors, one of whom owns a machete and isn’t afraid to use it.

Golden Oaks Assisted Living is outside Pete’s jurisdiction, but a murder in the facility his Alzheimer’s-afflicted father calls home makes the case personal.

Paramedic and Deputy Coroner Zoe Chambers has been itching for an opportunity to take the lead in a death investigation. She gets her chance when her boss is hospitalized and not only assigns her to the Golden Oaks homicide but puts her in charge of the county coroner’s office.

As if she doesn’t have enough to handle, a long-lost, over-protective, older half-brother walks into her life threatening to drive a wedge between her and the man she loves.

A second dead body leads them to realize the case may have dark ties to a distant past…and if Zoe doesn’t untangle the web of lies, Pete will be the one to pay the ultimate price.

An Interview With A Character

What is your full name?

Zoe Chambers

What is your Profession?

I’m a paramedic for the Monongahela County Emergency Medical Services and I’m also a deputy coroner.

What is your current favourite book or movie?

I rarely have time to go to a movie, but I recently saw A Star is Born and loved it. As for books, just about anything by Carla Neggers.

What is your go to comfort book or movie?

A “comfort” book…I’d have to say one of the classics—The Great Gatsby. I love getting lost in that one over and over. I have two comfort movies that I’ve watched dozens of times. One is Ghost and the other is Dirty Dancing.

If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be?

Oh, I would love it if Scarlett Johansson played me! I think she’s amazing!

What is your ideal evening?

If I ever get my farmhouse fixed up enough to live in it, I dream of quiet evenings with Pete, curled up together on the sofa in front of a crackling fire. Until then, dinner out with Pete is pretty ideal. Any evening with Pete when neither of us are on duty is wonderful.

I’m curious about how Zoe & Pete will investigate inside the assisted living center.
