Dying for Data

Bad karma, a rival suitor, and a deadly attack are enough to put a damper on any date.

Just when Adina’s social life is looking up, her night out is interrupted by the scream of police sirens. Afraid her bartender boyfriend might be accused of murder, Adina’s neighbor enlists her assistance, and in the process exposes her to the seamier side of illegal immigration and crime in the city. Hard as she tries to limit her involvement, the more Adina learns, the more she needs to know – until a case of mistaken identity lands her in hot water. Will she uncover the truth before it’s too late?

Adina and Bruce (the man she met at the Dog Rescue Centre in the previous book) are headed out for dinner to a place recommended by one of Adina's neighbours (Elena).  During the meal Adina realises that Bruce is somewhat bigoted but is prepared to put up with it for the sake of a nice evening out, unfortunately a nice evening isn't what they get when the Police arrive as there has been an incident outside, the problem is that Elena's boyfriend, Rafael, was involved and he is now in hospital, this leads to Adina wanting to help Elena which leads to Bruce becomes grumpier. The situation goes downhill further a few days later with a body being found and Rafael, Elena and Adina being in the thick of things.  Mind you this does mean that Adina gets to spend some quality time with the rather nice Detective again!

This series is more a set of Novellas than full books which means you don't get a lot of the background/descriptions that you do in a full length book, that being said the actually story line is good and well worth a read – I am looking forward to #3 😀
