Cosmic Cat
Cosmic Cat

When the Captain is murdered at Bridgetown Comic-con and philanthropist Esmae Westhouse is arrested for the crime, sixty-something cat shelter volunteer Lynley Cannon steps out of her comfort zone and dons her Star Trek uniform to expose the real killer.A band of vigilante cosplayers, a shady pharmaceutical company, and an ancient black cat named Kitty tie into a puzzling plot that has Lynley running in all directions. The death of Captain Cat is only the beginning, and Lynley must stay one step ahead of a ruthless hit man if she is to make it out alive.

An Interview With A Character

What is your full name?

My name is Lynley Cannon. Some people call me a crazy cat lady. They’re spot on about the cat lady part, but I like to think I’m not quite crazy yet!

What is your Profession?

Retired and busy as a kitten with a toy, mostly having to do with cats. I’m a cat shelter volunteer, I foster sick cats, I have a therapy cat whom I take to visit hospice patients, as well as caring for my own clowder of eight.

What is your current favourite book or movie?

For reading material, I prefer cozy cat mysteries and other cat fiction. Shirley Rousseau Murphy’s “Joe Grey” series is a favorite, if I must choose. I do like action and sci-fi-fantasy when it comes to movies, however.

What is your go to comfort book or movie?

As some might know if they have read my stories, I have an anxiety disorder, so sometimes even cozy murder mysteries are too intense for me. Then I like to read classic children’s stories such as “Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens” or “Winnie the Pooh”— with lots of pretty illustrations, of course.

If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?

I think Kate Mulgrew would play me nicely. She was excellent as Captain Janeway on Star Trek Voyager— you know I am a Trekkie.

What is your ideal evening?

That’s easy, and I’m fortunate enough to practice it quite often: a nice dinner from a vegan take-out Thai place so I don’t have to cook, then on the couch to watch  a DVD with my cats curled up beside me.
