Of Murder and Men

Love is in the air in Aspen Hills, and it’s making a terrible mess of Cat Latimer’s writers’ retreat—especially when blood stains the plot . . .

Ever since her business partner, Shauna, fell for a wealthy landowner in town, Cat has been working double time to keep her writers’ retreat running. And with the January session almost underway, that spells trouble. As if scheduling mishaps aren’t disastrous enough, Shauna skips out on kitchen duties one morning, forcing Cat to serve unsuspecting guests store-bought muffins . . .

But best laid plans really go awry when Shauna discovers her beau missing from their bed. When his body later turns up in the horse barn, they quickly find out the victim’s scandalous lifestyle left many dying for revenge. While balancing an eccentric group of aspiring writers and a suspect list for the record books, Cat soon finds herself on the heels of a killer—and authoring her most deadly conclusion yet . . .

Lynn Cahoon has done it again! Another "I just need to read a bit more, bother the book is finished!" book, this is a series that keeps getting better and better!

Cat and her Retreat Business Partner Shauna both have their strengths, Cat's are dealing with the writers and organising and Shauna's are more organising and dealing with the food side of the retreat.  The problem is that since Shauna has been seeing Kevin Shield, a local businessman, she has been falling behind on the food prep side, and on the organisation side, she forgot to let Cat know one of the retreat people would be arriving a day early, she hasn't helped get the rooms ready and now she is late for meal preps. When Shauna and Kevin get engaged, Cat fears the worst, unfortunately the worst she fears isn't the worst that happens when Kevin ends up dead and Shauna is in the cross hairs as prime suspect!

Now Cat needs to figure out what happened with Kevin to keep Shauna from cooking in jail, and at the same time she is finding out more about her late ex-husband, with one of the Retreat guests being a retired Alaskan Police Officer, Cat, her Uncle Pete (local law enforcement, Seth and Shauna have another, fresh pair of eyes to help with BOTH cases.  Oh and we get a wonderful cameo/crossover from The Tourist Trap mysteries as well!
