EMILY RHODES DOES IT AGAIN! This time she nosedives into a mud puddle at a Seminole War battle reenactment and finds she’s sharing the muck with a dead body. As usual the hunky detective she loves to aggravate, Stanton Lewis, cautions her against getting involved in the case, and as usual she ignores him. Emily’s sleuthing pays off, revealing disturbing information about the victim’s past. Is it the reason behind his murder? With the help of her family and friends, Emily sets out to uncover secrets kept too long and puts herself and the people she loves in the killer’s path. Too late she realizes Detective Lewis was right. Her snoopiness proves to be a deadly idea.
An Interview With A Character
What is your full name?
Stanton Lewis
What is your Profession?
I have been a detective with the local police force for ten years. I grew up in rural Florida and returned here from Brunswick, Georgia when my wife and I separated. I’m glad to be back home where I know everyone and am known by everyone. I do find dealing with the winter visitors who flock in here each season to be problematic. They drive too fast, over fish the lake and act like rural Florida can be used as a garbage dump. Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but when you deal with as many people breaking the law as I do, you get somewhat pessimistic. Emily Rhodes, the woman I love and also find aggravating, says I see the world through the eye of a cop, meaning, I tend to see the worst in people. If anyone can cure me of that, she can.
What is your current favourite book or movie?
The unpredictable hours of my job give me little time to read anything. I can barely catch a program on television. When I do sit down and put up my feet, I usually fall asleep in front of some program I really have no interest in anyway. It seems to be that most programs are aimed at a younger audience and the cop shows for a cop like me are full of errors and unrealistic. Besides, I get enough cop stuff at work.
If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?
You know that guy who played Longmire on Netflix? He could do a good job of playing me. He’s old enough, rugged enough and handsome enough.
What is your ideal evening?
A bottle of beer in one hand and the other around the shoulder of the woman I love. And then later, well we’ll see.
