Lily Gayle and the gang set out to find a killer after local baker Luxen Natolovich is found dead hours before the grand opening weekend at the new Bed and Breakfast in town, Midnight Dragonfly.
As Lily Gayle deciphers the clues around Luxen's death she uncovers a conspiracy of lies and half truths that could very well be tied to a refugee camp in Mississippi during World War II.
The deeper Lily Gayle digs the deeper the consipiracy runs and the closer she comes to being the killers next victim.
After all the trouble in the first book Lily Gayle is hoping for some peace and quiet, but it appears that trouble isn't far away! Miss Edna has her Great Niece staying with her (and she is running around with the local bad boy) and Harley Ann (the great-niece) tries to enlist Lily Gayle's support a) about Bobby and b) to help her sell her flavoured butters through the local bakery. For some reason though Luxen (the baker) is not being his usual friendly self and before Lily Gayle, Dixie and Miss Edna can sort out what is going on there is a murder at the soon to be opened B&B, the three need to work together again to find out what happened and why!
