Ingredients
3 tablespoon oil
1 large onion, sliced
4 cloves
4 cardamom pods, opened
6 black peppercorns
2.5 cm cinnamon stick
2 teaspoon garlic, crushed
2 teaspoon ginger, grated
1 tablespoon tomato puree
150g tomatoes, peeled and chopped
0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
0.5 teaspoon chilli powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
3 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
450g mince
125 – 250ml water
salt to taste
handful of coriander leaves for garnish
Method
Heat the oil and add the onion and the whole spices.
When the onion has browned, add the garlic and ginger and fry for 3 minutes.
Add the tomato puree and let it stand in the oil for at least 2 minutes before stirring.
Now add the rest of the ingredients, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, until the potatoes and mince have cooked.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
